TopShelf Express, began as an in-house training program for Diverse Concepts in 1999 teaching the Bar Code Alcohol Training program.  In 2005, we started searching for a training program that  covered the needs of our servers, bartenders, and managers.  After looking at all the training programs on the market, we decided to use TopShelf programs and materials.

We offer TABC Server/Permit Classes weekly in East Tennessee, Carding and ID recognition training, special/private on-site classes, distillery class and restaurant consulting. Mark Church-Janes – Owner & Master Instructor

With over 35 years experience in the hospitality industry, Mark is originally from a small town outside Louisville, KY. He attended the University of Louisville, where he was president of Delta Upsilon fraternity for 2 years. Mark served in the US Army as well as the Kentucky National Guard. He started in the hospitality industry working for the corporate offices of Apple South in Madison GA, as a restaurant opening coordinator, opening 49 Applebee’s across the United States. Mark transplanted to East Tennessee in 1997 to be the Kitchen Manager of Alabama Grill in Pigeon Forge for 2 years. Then going to work for Diverse Concepts, “Texas Roadhouse” for 5 years, leaving as the regional training manager. Mark is now working as an account representative  for a local liquor wholesaler.

Mark enjoys spending spare time with his husband of 19 years, friends, family, traveling and outdoor activities.
